Welcome to the Double Negative Records website. I guess the first piece of news is that we have a website now. Big thanks to Deth P. Sun for doing all the artwork and John Arana for building the fucking thing.
I guess the second piece of news is that Double Negative Records is officially a label. We’re looking forward to putting out our first few releases and having a busy 2005.
Our first release is slated for April – the debut EP from The Death of a Party. It’s called The Shame of the Sweet and it rips. The official CD release party is scheduled for April 16th at Bottom of the Hill and will also feature Boyskout and the Holy Kiss, not to mention the DJ stylings of Disco Shawn. Should be fun – bring your mom. Also look for the band playing live with our new favorite Bay Area band The Mall in Reno and lending a hand when the Vanishing make their return to Oakland in May after camping out in Germany during these past few months.
The second release should follow sometime in late spring/early summer. It’s the debut album from Postcoitus, fresh off their Noisepop appearance with Montreal hipsters Les Georges Leningrad. The album is called Build Your Own Circus and it is pretty much guaranteed to launch an instant dance party wherever and whenever it gets played.
After that look for lots more excitement to come from Double Negative Records in the year ahead. We like to tell you exactly what we’re doing, but it’s a secret. Let’s just say weapons of mass destruction and ritual animal torture are involved. It’s all very hush hush.
