The exciting news keeps on rolling

The exciting news keeps on rolling in for Double Negative Records. The Death of a Party CD has been flying off the shelves, already selling out at more than one Bay Area shop. If you haven’t picked up your own copy of The Shame of the Sweet, go pick it up at your local record shop. If for some reason they don’t have it, tell them to order it from Revolver. You can also buy the CD online – just go to the releases page on this site. For the nitpicky motherfuckers, we’ve also added some song samples on the releases page so you can check out the music before plunking down the cash for the EP. Web-challenged kids can also buy the CD from the band at all of their shows, most of which are pretty fucking amazing.

Speaking of Death of a Party shows, the band recently found out that they are playing with Bloc Party! It’s a make-up show for the performance at Popscene that Bloc Party cancelled a few months back. The show is happening on Tuesday, May 31st at Slim’s. Needless to say, the band is just a tad excited.

In other news, the Postcoitus CD is rapidly nearing completion. The artwork is finished and the CD’s are being pressed right now. The Dereks will be keeping themselves busy in the meantime playing a show with Japanese hottties Pine A.M. and also opening up for Chow Nasty and the Lovemakers as part of the Mission Creek Music Festival in June. See the shows page for all the details.

But what about the Postcoitus album? What’s the deal? Well, the Postcoitus CD is entitled Build Your Own Circus and will be officially released on Tuesday, July 12th. The CD Release party has been set for Friday, July 8th at the Café Du Nord. Also playing that night are the Lovemakers (who are doing a Friday night July residency at Du Nord) and Death of Party. Double Negative fans should definitely start camping out now if they want to get in to this show. I hear the line is going to rival the one for the new Star Wars movie.
