It’s been a busy summer here at camp Double Negative. We’re getting ready to assault the world with the debut album from Postcoitus. It’s called Build Your Own Circus and it will be in stores on July 12th. The CD Release party is happening on Friday, July 8th at the Café Du Nord with fellow Oakland starlets the Lovemakers and a new band called Polar Eyes which features former members of the Evening and Black Cat Music. The club is pretty much guaranteed to be overloaded with the coolest people on the planet, so be there or be a total douche. (I know that doesn’t rhyme but it does have a nice ring.)
After the CD release show you can catch Postcoitus all summer long, including a kickass show with Tracy and the Plastics on Wednesday, July 13th at Bottom of the Hill. Check out the shows page for all the details.
The Death of a Party has been busy too. After rubbing elbows with Bloc Party and being cited as a band to watch in the summer issue of the East Bay Express (see the band’s press page), they’re taking their live show on the road and invading the Pacific Northwest in August. If you live up there and want to hook up the band with a show, drop us a line. And if you haven’t yet picked up a copy of their EP The Shame of the Sweet, kick yourself repeatedly. Then run down to your local record shop and buy it.
Finally, we’ve finally started up an official label mailing list. If you want to get all the latest data about Double Negative Records in your e-mail, then sign yourself up. The sign-up is on the contact information page of the site. Click on the About page and then click on Contact Information.
