Hello again from glamorous Oakland, California. We’ve been real busy here at Double Negative HQ so we figured that perhaps we should actually tell people what we’ve been up to.
As promised, we’re happy to announce another addition to the Double Negative roster. This one might be a shocker for all you Oakland loyalists, but we’ve invited a San Francisco band to join our little fiesta. Of course we still love Oakland and are all about the East Bay but this band is just too good to pass up. Who are they? The Fucking Ocean. That is not a misprint. THE FUCKING OCEAN. Their music is as tough as their name and you can read all about them by going to our artists page. We’ll be releasing their debut album this October and they’ll be touring all around the U.S. to prove just how good it is. More details to come.
In other Double Negative news, Battleship made it home in one piece (barely) from their world tour. Now that they’re home the band has a little break scheduled while they finish up their next album. In the meantime, their very limited edition 7” has been selling very quickly, so make sure to order one of those fuckers before we run out. You can buy it on our releases page or also order it online from one of many different distributors. Check the old news report for all the links. For any Europeans who might be stopping by, you can try ordering it through Rimbaud Records (www.rimbaudrecords.com) and save yourself some money on postage.
Postcoitus has been actively campaigning for people to choose fun and vote yes for dancing all summer long. Check our shows page if you want to find out where and when the next Postcoitus-inspired dance party will be taking place.
The Death of a Party also have some exciting shows you should make a point to attend. They’ll be opening up for Glass Candy and the Chromatics in early September. The band is also working on their first full-length album, which should hopefully see the light of day in late 2006 or early 2007.
That’s about it. Yes, we know this was long. Sorry. We know reading is passé these days. You can now go back to changing the photo on your Myspace page.
