Hola. Bienvenidos a Double Negative Records

Hola. Bienvenidos a Double Negative Records.

Did you like that? Here at Double Negative we’re making an effort to reach out to music lovers of all colors, creeds and ethnic backgrounds. Either that or we’re blatantly pandering to the growing Latino population. Regardless, we’re here and we’re really fucking busy these days.

Right at the top of the list is the debut album from The Fucking Ocean. It’s called Le Main Rouge and it just might be the finest thing we’ve ever released. The band has put together 26 minutes of screamy, punky, instrument-swapping madness that’s bound to get you moving, but not in a fruity, asymmetrical haircut kind of way. Trust us, you’ll want to pick this CD up when it hits record shops (and our online store) in early November. All you superfans out there can also snag it a couple weeks early when the bands hits the road starting on October 21st. Check the shows page for tour details and the releases page for some song samples and other riveting information.

Speaking of the road, some of the Double Negative crew are heading out to New York for the annual CMJ conference. The Fucking Ocean and Postcoitus will both be there along with some key members of the Double Negative braintrust. Don’t be scared to come say hello if you see us out there. Just because we’re from Oakland doesn’t mean that we’re going to cut you or anything – at least not right away.

Unfortunately, Death of a Party won’t be at CMJ because they’re busy finishing up their new album. It’s slated for release in early 2007 so start saving your pennies now. In the meantime they’ll be playing a couple shows, including a Double Negative Records showcase with Postcoitus AND The Fucking Ocean at the Hemlock Tavern on December 2nd. Be there or be square. You can meet almost all of your Double Negative pals at the same time!

That’s all for now. But we do have more projects in the oven for the future. When they’re done baking we’ll yank them out and share all the yummy details.
