The Death of a Party The Shame of the Sweet Release Date: April 19, 2005 This EP marks the debut of two very important entities - Oakland quartet The Death of a Party and new label Double Negative Records. After tearing through the ranks of the Oakland warehouse circuit, The Death of a Party now bring their gothy post-punk stylings to your stereo. With a sound reminiscent of legendary bands like Bauhaus and Gang of Four, The Death of a Party also harnesses the energy of present-day underground favorites like the Blood Brothers. Recorded by Skot B. of the Phantom Limbs and Black Ice, The Shame of Sweet captures the band at their best. With four tracks of angular guitars, haunting vocals and bass lines just funky enough to get the average scenester dancing, The Shame of the Sweet is poised to put the Oakland underground on the musical map. |
